Hello Shark Families!

What a year 2020 has been so far! I am so happy we have been able to get our kids back in the water for some exercise and fun! For those of you new to the Sharks, my name is Molly Dorsey, and I am the Sharks team manager/volunteer coordinator. I have two boys, Luke (8) and Hunter (6), and this is our 4^th year on the Sharks. During a normal swim season, I’d be the person coordinating the volunteers for all meets and helping Cheri do all the operational stuff out of the water for the season.

Cheri and I are starting to work on next Friday’s meet, and we need volunteers to make it happen. For those of you new to Sharks, all volunteer signups are done on Swimtopia. When you register to attend the meet, you can pick a volunteer slot. If your child is attending the meet, we need to you to sign up! We can’t run meets without the help of all parents. If you can’t make the meet, babysitters or grandparents are welcome to volunteer in your place. Both parents can volunteer as well if you wish! Starting next week, I will be emailing all families not signed up to put you in open slots, so pick your preferences early. If you have any concerns about this, please email me directly. 

Since we aren’t swimming against another team this season, we will need 12 timers. In addition, we need Shark Cove volunteers (age group parents), heat award distributors (great if you have have non-swimmers who want to help), cleanup crew, etc. This meet will go extremely fast and we will train you before the meet on what to do, so don’t be scared to sign up! I always send out a detailed volunteer description prior to meets to give instructions, arrival times, etc., so be looking for that Wednesday of next week. 

Finally, we need a starter/announcer and a lead timer for both sessions! If you are a returning family (or have a general knowledge of how a swim meet works) and want to really be in on the action, please let me know.
